In August of this year at the Techonomy
Conference, CNBCs Maria Bartiromo sat with a panel to discuss the future of technology. On that panel sat tech greats, which included Bill Joy, Kevin Kelly, Nicholas Negroponte, and Willie Smitts. All had quite a bit to say but the most interesting was from Nicholas Negroponte. Prof Negroponte predicts the death of physical books in 5 years.
He agrees that it will be difficult for people to accept but he reminds the audience of what happened to both music and film. He stresses that by dead he does not mean completely dead but that digital books will become the dominant form.
